About Steinbrueck Urban Strategies, LLC
For nearly a decade, Peter Steinbrueck, FAIA, led the City of Seattle’s legislative efforts to develop and advance cutting edge sustainable practices in areas of public policy and planning for transportation, land use, building codes and development regulations. Examples of his many accomplishments include: developing smart growth management and land use strategies to support livable compact communities;
the vision for Seattle’s Downtown Livability Plan to encourage more sustainable urban neighborhoods;
an Urban Mobility Plan to replace aging elevated highway on the city’s waterfront; establishing a
uniform green development policy of LEED Silver; development of the Seattle Green Factor for
mixed-use projects to reduce the ecological footprint and expand green landscaping; and, adoption
of cross-system Sustainability Goals in the city’s 20 year Comprehensive Plan. Recently Steinbrueck worked with Seattle Children’s Hospital , one of the top ten pediatric care hospitals in the nation, to develop its 20 year, 1.5 million square foot Facilities Master Plan. Other recent projects have included sustainability guidelines for the City of San Diego and revitalization of Philadelphia’s central Delaware riverfront.
